KEYNOTE SESSION TENDERING: DEFINING PROJECT REQUIREMENTS Session moderator:
David Briginshaw, Editor-in-Chief, International Railway Journal Session overview: CBTC has emerged as potentially the most cost-effective solution for modern metros, not only in terms of maximizing safety and capacity but also, in allowing for additional applications/improvements and maximising revenue. An effective tendering process is imperative to ensure the new system meets all the necessary requirements and minimise CAPEX, whilst maximizing the long-term return. Clear and comprehensive project parameters must be set to ensure the new system can be delivered by the supplier and once implemented, can reduce ongoing OPEX as far as possible. This session addresses best-practice strategies for the tendering of new CBTC systems and looks at the business case for CBTC to ensure cost-effectiveness. Session themes: Tendering, supplier collaboration, project requirements, CAPEX/OPEX, ROI, investment lifecycle, additional benefits, greener operations, integration, pressure on networks, reducing headways, competition Session topics:
